Why havent they breed animals like?

Hybrids are only possible between two VERY closely related species. You can't just pick any two animals at random and breed them. Tigers and lions separated very recently in evolutionary terms. Other cats are much more widely separated. Panthers, for instance, have been separated from lions and tigers since the Americas split off from the Old World.
